The Divine Liturgy of Saint John Chrysostom is the most celebrated Divine Liturgy in the Byzantine Rite. It is named after the anaphora with the same name which is its core part and it is attributed to Saint John Chrysostom, Archbishop of Constantinople in the 5th century.
Used by every Greek Orthodox church as a template for worship since the 5th century, it has stood the test of time and reflects a love for God and his people not found in churches today.

There is a one star review which belongs to another book by almost the same title--which is also shown where it belongs-- so the fault is not the reviewer's, but that of Amazon's strange system.
The other book has both English & Greek jammed together on every line. (There are other languages listed in that table of contents, also. I only got the free sample of it, and the formatting of that sample was dreadful. The "Look Inside" feature was much more readable. Oddly deceiving, I believe.)
Now would you believe it? This review is posted on both books, too!

I was so thankful to find this for . I'm currently unable to attend Divine Liturgy and don't have a paper copy of it. This way we can pray it at home until we are able to attend in person.

I am a Christian of the Roman Catholic tradition and I've always venerated St. John Chrysostom. I absolutely love the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. I hope one day that I can celebrate this liturgy together with my Eastern Christian brothers and sisters. We do not have an Orthodox church on the island where I live on. YouTube is awesome for this. With this, I can follow along the celebration of the Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. I may not be there in person, but I'm there in mind, and spirit...

I am very grateful to for making available The Divine Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom. It is one of the Classical Eucharistic Prayers found in the Church. This really is Prayer-in-action. Both Bishop (Priest) and Congregation unite in one solemn act of adoration, thanksgiving and praise to the All Holy One. This is not meant to be read- it must be prayed or else not touched. It is sacred. With this Divine Liturgy we are in another world- this is not for the frivilous, empty-headed seeker after thrills. It is most serious. There are few words that can describe it- two would be HOLY and profound ADORATION. Getting involved in the Divine Liturgy you are getting involved with God !! Chrysostom warns us tread warily- take off your shoes, you are on holy ground. If this is not your reaction, you have yet to learn how to handle such things as The Divine Liturgy.

A good over-all "script" of the Divine Liturgy, but I would have liked a bit more exposition and analysis . . . Nothing over whelming, but perhaps a bit more of an explanation for those of us who do NOT come from the Orthodox heritage.
As a Protestant I have come to really appreciate the Orthodox use of The Divine Liturgy, So much beauty, devotion, prayer and scripture are contained within. This version is laid out well, is inexpensive. The only bummer is the Thee's and Thou's.
This is a very helpful summary of the Orthodox Divine Liturgy for those like myself who are
unfamiliar with it. The entire text of the liturgy is here, including the prayers said by the priest
silently. For beginners who want to know "what's going on" during the Divine Liturgy, this is
a clear word-by-word account. I would recommend it for anyone who is curious about the
Orthodox liturgy.
