If you can get beyond his bashing of other religions, Muir has some dazzling and beautiful expositions on some of the characteristics of God. It reads a little like a Roman Catholic catechism, explaining the ways we see God. I have Googled Muir, but no luck. He does not strike me as the Catholic type, but who knows?Muir writes chapters about attributes of God such as transcendence, omnipotence, wisdom, good, love, omnipresence, immutability, mercy, graciousness, holiness, sovereignty and righteousness. These are accompanied by psalms that exhibit those qualities.
The text is not always consistent - but again, the descriptions are beautiful and awe inspiring.
Those who enjoyed Fr. Gabriel of St. Mary Magdeline's "Divine Intimacy" would probably like this.
